Please note, this opportunity is only available to current Scottish Leather Group employees or temporary workers currently working within our sites.
Step into a role where movement meets precision – where materials flow seamlessly through operations and every action supports the creation of high-quality leather. This role is about being at the centre of crust operations, enabling efficiency, safety, and consistency from start to finish.
At Scottish Leather Group, we’re proud to produce some of the world’s lowest carbon leather, combining innovation with a long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing. But what really sets us apart is our people. We’re continuing to build a culture where safety leads every decision, quality is built into every process, and teams take ownership to continuously improve how we work.
In this role you will:
• Play a key role in crust operations, supporting the transformation of tanned hides into finished leather.
• Operate a forklift truck as a core part of the role, supporting both incoming and outgoing goods across the operation.
• Ensure the safe and responsible use of forklift equipment at all times.
• Carry out a range of hands-on production tasks, contributing to overall operational flow and efficiency.
• Maintain high standards of quality, ensuring customer specifications are consistently met.
• Work flexibly across different operational areas when required, supporting wider team objectives.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and uphold a strong safety-first mindset.
• Identify and escalate any concerns relating to safety, quality, or production performance.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organised working environments.
• Support team capability through mentoring and contributing to cross-skilling opportunities.
• Contribute to meeting production targets while maintaining quality standards.
You’re someone who understands that safety, quality, and efficiency go hand in hand – where moving materials safely and precisely is just as important as keeping operations flowing.
• You hold a current and valid forklift truck licence and are confident operating in a busy industrial environment.
• You bring a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt across different areas of the operation.
• You demonstrate a safety-first mindset, always working in line with procedures and looking out for others.
• You take pride in accuracy and attention to detail, delivering work to a consistently high standard.
• You work well as part of a team, building strong relationships and contributing to a positive environment.
• You are organised and reliable, able to manage your workload and prioritise effectively.
• You approach challenges with a solution-focused mindset, taking initiative and driving improvements.
• You are open to feedback and committed to developing your skills and capability.
The impact you will have:
You will play a central role in enabling smooth and efficient operations across the crust process. By ensuring materials are handled safely, accurately, and on time, you will help maintain production flow, support quality outcomes, and contribute to reliable delivery for our customers. Your contribution will strengthen operational performance, reduce disruption, and support a high‑performing, safety-focused environment.
What’s in it for you:
You’ll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package designed to support your wellbeing, financial security, and career development. This includes enhanced company sick pay, life assurance, annual leave that increases with service, and access to health and wellbeing support alongside an Employee Assistance Programme with private GP services.
You’ll also have opportunities to grow through coaching, training, and development support, with practical benefits such as cycle to work and electric vehicle schemes, free on-site parking, and access to a range of retail discounts.
We believe our strength comes from our people. We value diversity, support development, and create an environment where everyone can contribute and succeed.
Ready to be part of the process?
If you’re motivated to take ownership, support safe and efficient operations, and be part of a team that values quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you.
