Great quality doesn’t happen at the end of a process - it is built into every stage, from the moment materials arrive through to the finished product reaching our customers. By combining robust quality control, accurate data, strong technical knowledge, and close collaboration across the business, we ensure our products consistently meet the standards our customers expect.
As a Quality Technician, you’ll play a key role within our Quality & Laboratory Team, helping to monitor and improve the quality of hide, leather, and cut-part products throughout our manufacturing operation. Working closely with Production, Technical, Quality, Laboratory, Sales, Account Management, suppliers, and customers, you’ll help ensure that quality standards are understood, measured, maintained, and continually improved.
From inspecting product and identifying potential issues to analysing data, supporting investigations, and working directly with customers, your attention to detail and ability to turn information into action will have a direct impact on product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
In this role you will:
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process, from supplier receipt through production, final inspection, and despatch, ensuring products meet internal and customer specifications
- Support new product assessments, trials, and New Product Introduction activities, including measurements, PPAP/PSW requirements, and quality documentation
- Investigate quality concerns, identify faults and root causes, and support effective corrective and preventative actions
- Work closely with internal and external customers on quality matters, including hide assessments, grading, panel exercises, and customer quality reviews
- Collect, maintain, and analyse quality data, producing accurate reports and identifying trends, risks, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Conduct audits and compliance checks across product, process, and systems, ensuring quality standards and agreed schedules are consistently achieved
- Maintain quality records, databases, and reporting systems, ensuring information is accurate, up to date, and available to relevant stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of environmental, health, safety, and wellbeing across all activities
You’re someone who sees beyond inspection. You understand that quality is about more than finding defects. It’s about understanding processes, recognising risk, using data effectively, and working with people to prevent problems from happening in the first place.
- You will have an appropriate degree qualification and experience as a Quality Assurance practitioner, ideally within an automotive, manufacturing, or similar environment
- You will bring a strong understanding of quality assurance, process control, product standards, and compliance, with the ability to apply these effectively within a manufacturing environment
- You will have proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and support practical and sustainable corrective actions
- You will bring strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret quality data, identify trends, and produce clear, concise, and factual reports
- You will demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Production, Technical, Quality, Laboratory, Sales, Account Management, suppliers, and customers
- You will have strong attention to detail and organisational skills, ensuring records, documentation, quality data, audits, and reports are accurate and delivered within agreed timescales
- You will bring confidence in using quality and data systems, including Excel and Power BI, with the ability to maintain accurate databases and use information to support decision-making
- You will demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement, personal development, teamwork, and problem solving, with a commitment to identifying risks and putting preventative measures in place
The impact you will have:
As a Quality Technician, you’ll help provide the information, insight, and technical support needed to maintain high standards throughout our manufacturing operation.
Your work will help us identify quality risks earlier, improve process compliance, reduce non-conformance, and strengthen our understanding of product and process performance. By working closely with teams across the business, you’ll help turn quality data into meaningful action and ensure that issues are not simply identified but understood and addressed.
You’ll also play an important role in strengthening relationships with our customers and suppliers, providing accurate quality information, supporting assessments and reviews, and helping ensure that expectations are consistently met.
Through your contribution, you’ll help create a culture where quality is built into every stage of the process - where people understand the standards, data drives decisions, problems are solved at their root, and continuous improvement is part of how we work every day.
What’s in it for you:
You’ll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package designed to support your wellbeing, financial security, and career development. This includes a company pension, life assurance, company sick pay, enhanced annual leave that increases with service, and access to a health and wellbeing programme alongside an Employee Assistance Programme with private GP services. You’ll also have opportunities to grow through coaching, training, and development support, plus practical perks such as cycle to work and electric vehicle schemes, free on-site parking, and access to a range of retail discounts.
We believe our strength comes from our people. We value diversity, encourage development, and create an environment where everyone can thrive.
