Great manufacturing businesses do not just keep equipment running – they create environments where reliability, safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement shape every shift, every process, and every outcome.
As our Recycling Plant Engineer, you’ll play a key hands-on role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our recycling plant. Combining strong electrical and mechanical capability with a proactive, solution-focused approach, you’ll help ensure plant performance is maintained at an optimum level, responding quickly to breakdowns, supporting planned maintenance activity, and contributing to improvements that strengthen reliability across the operation.
This is a role where your technical knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to work closely with operational teams will make a real difference. You’ll be part of a team focused on keeping equipment performing, reducing downtime, and supporting a first-class maintenance service across the business.
In this role you will:
- Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance activities across the recycling plant.
- Support planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance activity to help maintain plant reliability and performance.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns, helping to minimise disruption and restore equipment safely.
- Contribute to plant efficiency improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to provide a high-quality engineering service to the business.
- Record job information accurately and promptly on the internal maintenance system to support history, reporting, and KPI measurement.
- Support improvements in machine downtime, planned versus reactive job completion, allocated job efficiency, and engineering standards.
- Build effective working relationships with Operational Managers and Recycling Plant Operators.
You’re someone who understands that reliable engineering support is essential to keeping operations moving safely and efficiently.
You take pride in getting the job done properly, bring a practical and proactive approach to problem solving, and are confident working in a fast-paced operational environment. You’re comfortable taking ownership, identifying issues, and working with others to deliver effective solutions that support plant performance.
You will have:
- A time-served engineering background or SVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
- Relevant experience across mechanical, electrical, and technical disciplines.
- Strong all-round technical knowledge, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, recycling, or operational environment.
- A confident, self-motivated, and resilient approach, with the ability to proactively identify issues and deliver solutions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude towards continuous improvement and change.
The impact you will have
You will play an important role in keeping our recycling plant operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. By supporting planned maintenance, responding effectively to breakdowns, and contributing to continuous improvement activity, you’ll help minimise downtime, strengthen plant performance, and support the smooth running of the operation.
Your contribution will help ensure maintenance activity is completed to a high standard, equipment issues are resolved effectively, and the operation is supported by accurate records, strong teamwork, and practical problem solving.
