Engineering excellence is built on reliability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Every maintenance activity plays a vital role in keeping production running safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. The best engineering teams don't simply react to breakdowns - they take a proactive approach to asset reliability, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement, ensuring equipment performs at its best while supporting operational success.
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our manufacturing operation. Working closely with the Engineering Manager and wider production team, you'll carry out planned, preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities across a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, helping minimise downtime, maximise efficiency, and drive continuous improvement across the site.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll use your technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and proactive approach to keep our plant operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
In this role you will:
- Carry out planned, preventative, predictive, and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise production downtime.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing safe, efficient repairs to restore production as quickly as possible.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability, maintenance practices, and operational performance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job histories, and performance data using the company's maintenance management system to support KPI reporting and asset management.
- Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering colleagues to prioritise maintenance activities and support efficient manufacturing operations.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, in line with company procedures, engineering standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and contribute to preventative maintenance strategies that improve asset availability and reduce recurring faults.
- Support the wider engineering team by sharing technical knowledge, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
You're someone who understands that great maintenance is about much more than fixing faults - it's about improving reliability, supporting production, and helping the business perform at its best.
- You are a time-served engineer or hold an SVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- You have experience carrying out both electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing, industrial, or operational environment.
- You possess strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and associated engineering systems.
- You are confident diagnosing faults, solving technical problems, and responding calmly under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- You are proactive, self-motivated, and committed to identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness.
- You work well as part of a team, communicating effectively with colleagues across Engineering, Production, and Operations.
- You are organised, safety-conscious, and comfortable using computerised maintenance management systems to record work and monitor performance.
- You take pride in delivering high-quality engineering work and are committed to continuous learning and professional development.
