Senior Finance Manager - FP&A & Commercial

Finance - Paisley, Glasgow

Ref: 149Friday 23 October 2026

COMPETITIVE - Disclosed on Application

Great finance teams don’t simply report the numbers – they turn financial data into the insight, challenge, and direction that drive better business decisions. By combining strong financial planning, commercial understanding, and a commitment to continuous improvement, they help businesses understand performance, identify opportunities, manage risk, and make confident, well-informed decisions that support sustainable growth.

As our Senior Finance Manager - FP&A & Commercial, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s financial outlook and strengthening the connection between financial performance and commercial strategy. Working closely with the Head of Finance, CFO, and wider Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams, you’ll lead financial planning, forecasting, management reporting, and commercial finance activities, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insight. With a strong focus on sales performance, customer profitability, gross margin, and cash impact, you’ll help the business understand what is driving results and where opportunities exist to improve them. You’ll also champion the simplification and automation of reporting and forecasting processes, while leading and developing a capable FP&A and Commercial Finance team to deliver meaningful business support.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the Group’s annual budget, five-year plan, and periodic forecasting processes, ensuring financial plans reflect commercial priorities, operational performance, and strategic ambitions.
  • Develop an integrated financial outlook, using scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and robust assumptions to identify emerging risks and opportunities and support effective decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to Commercial and Sales leadership, providing insight and constructive challenge on pricing, customer profitability, sales performance, and gross margin.
  • Own sales and gross margin analysis, developing meaningful variance analysis and commentary that explains the drivers behind performance, including volume, pricing, customer, and product mix.
  • Lead the delivery of clear, concise, and decision-focused management reporting, bringing together financial, operational, and commercial information to tell a consistent performance story.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to translate financial results into practical recommendations, support business cases and investment decisions, and identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Drive the simplification, standardisation, and automation of forecasting and reporting processes, improving data quality, consistency, accessibility, and efficiency while reducing reliance on manual analysis.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the FP&A and Commercial Finance team, setting high standards for financial analysis, business partnering, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance, CFO, and wider Finance leadership team to support executive and Board reporting, deliver Finance priorities, and strengthen collaboration across the function.

You’re someone who looks beyond the numbers to understand business performance and drive improvement. Commercially minded, analytical, and proactive, you bring strong financial expertise, challenge assumptions, and build trusted relationships across the business. You turn complex information into clear, actionable insight, taking ownership and helping the business make better-informed decisions.

You will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), with solid post-qualification experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or a similar senior finance role.
  • Bring strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting experience, with the confidence to own the monthly reporting cycle and forecasting process end to end.
  • Demonstrate excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse sales performance, pricing, customer profitability, gross margin, and cash implications to support better business decisions.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational information, identify key trends, and develop clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Be an effective business partner and influencer, able to constructively challenge senior stakeholders, build credibility with non-Finance leaders, and engage early in important commercial decisions.
  • Communicate financial insight clearly and confidently, including presenting meaningful analysis, recommendations, and performance commentary to the CFO, senior leadership team, and Board-level audiences.
  • Have experience leading, coaching, and developing a small team, building capability, encouraging ownership, and supporting individuals to progress into more senior roles.
  • Demonstrate experience improving financial processes through simplification, standardisation, and automation, with a focus on strengthening reporting quality, forecasting accuracy, efficiency, and decision support.
  • Take a proactive, hands-on approach, getting involved across the business to identify opportunities, challenge performance, anticipate risks, and focus attention on activities that can make a meaningful difference.
  • Be collaborative, resilient, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate a fast-paced and evolving environment, and contribute positively to the wider Finance leadership team.

The impact you will have

As our Senior Finance Manager - FP&A & Commercial, you’ll play a vital role in turning financial information into a clearer understanding of business performance and a stronger foundation for strategic and commercial decisions.
