Senior Maintenance Engineer

Senior Maintenance Engineer - Paisley, Glasgow

Ref: 108Tuesday 16 June 2026

Please note, this opportunity is only available to current Scottish Leather Group employees or temporary workers currently working within our sites.

Step into a role where engineering drives performance – where every machine, system and intervention keeps production moving safely and efficiently. This role is about being at the heart of operations, leading maintenance activity, preventing disruption, and ensuring reliability across every stage of the manufacturing process.

This is a key hands-on role covering both the Turner Drive (Paisley), and Dunn Street (Glasgow) sites; where you’ll lead maintenance activity across our manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment is operating safely, reliably and efficiently. You’ll play a vital part in minimising downtime, supporting production performance and driving continuous improvement across the site.

In this role you will:

  • Lead maintenance activities across all operational areas including dyeing, drying and cutting processes
  • Diagnose and resolve complex faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement to reduce breakdowns and waste
  • Support installation, commissioning and optimisation of new equipment
  • Supervise and develop maintenance technicians and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards including COSHH and PUWER
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance and quality outputs
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure audit readiness
  • Support shutdown planning and execution, including statutory inspections and refurbishments
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture and lead by example in all activities

You’re someone who understands that safety, quality and efficiency go hand in hand – that offering an effective engineering operation is key to delivering for our customers on time, every time.

  • You have strong experience in a process or manufacturing environment
  • You have proven fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
  • You’re experienced in working with automation systems (e.g. PLCs and drives)
  • You have had leadership or supervisory experience within an engineering setting
  • You approach challenges with a solution-focused mindset, taking opportunities to develop the team around you.
  • You hold an engineering qualification (HNC/HND or above preferred)

The impact you will have:

You will play a central role in enabling smooth and efficient operations across both the Glasgow and Paisley plants.  By ensuring that machines are well maintained, and repaired you will help to maintain production flow, support quality outcomes and contribute to reliable delivery for our customers.  Your contribution will strengthen operational performance, reduce disruption, and support a high‑performing, safety-focused environment as well as supporting your team’s development.

What’s in it for you:

You’ll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package designed to support your wellbeing, financial security, and career development. This includes enhanced company sick pay, life assurance, annual leave that increases with service, and access to health and wellbeing support alongside an Employee Assistance Programme with private GP services.

You’ll also have opportunities to grow through coaching, training, and development support, with practical benefits such as cycle to work and electric vehicle schemes, free on-site parking, and access to a range of retail discounts.

We believe our strength comes from our people. We value diversity, support development, and create an environment where everyone can contribute and succeed.

Ready to be part of the process?

If you’re motivated to take ownership, support safe and efficient operations, and be part of a team that values quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you.
