Great engineering organisations don’t just deliver projects - they create environments where safety, reliability, innovation, and operational excellence drive every investment, every improvement, and every outcome. By combining strong project leadership with technical expertise and collaborative working, they ensure engineering projects deliver lasting value to the business, its people, and its customers.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading and delivering complex engineering projects from concept through to completion. Combining your technical capability, project leadership, and passion for continuous improvement, you’ll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. From driving asset improvement initiatives to coordinating cross-functional teams and managing technical challenges, your work will directly influence operational performance, reliability, and business growth.
In this role you will:
• Provide visible project engineering leadership, promoting a culture where safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence are embedded into every stage of project delivery
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering and CAPEX projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards
• Define project scope, objectives, schedules, budgets, and resource plans while communicating progress, risks, and performance to key stakeholders
• Work closely with Engineering, Reliability, Operations, Quality, and H&S teams to drive improvements in asset reliability, operational efficiency, and lifecycle performance
• Lead risk assessments, change control activities, commissioning, testing, and project handovers, ensuring projects meet operational, safety, and compliance requirements
• Coordinate internal engineering teams, external contractors, and suppliers to ensure effective project execution, strong communication, and successful delivery outcomes
• Oversee procurement activities, ensuring equipment, materials, and services meet technical, operational, and business requirements
• Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned, and best practice sharing across engineering projects to strengthen project delivery and operational performance
You’re someone who understands that successful engineering projects are about more than timelines and budgets - they are about improving reliability, supporting operational excellence, reducing risk, and delivering long-term value for the business.
• You will have demonstrable experience within a project engineering, manufacturing, or operational engineering environment, ideally across complex or multi-site operations
• You possess strong knowledge of engineering project management, CAPEX delivery, change management, and asset lifecycle improvement principles
• You bring proven experience leading complex engineering projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
• You demonstrate strong understanding of health & safety, risk management, contractor management, and engineering compliance standards
• You are confident managing project schedules, budgets, procurement activities, and stakeholder communications within fast-paced operational environments
• You possess excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams and contractors
• You bring strong analytical and problem-solving capability, identifying risks, resolving technical challenges, and implementing sustainable engineering improvements
• You are highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and strong project governance standards
• You hold or are working towards Engineering Professional Registration, with PRINCE2, APM, PMP, NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar project and safety qualifications considered highly advantageous
The impact you will have:
You will play a key role in delivering engineering projects that strengthen operational performance, improve asset reliability, and support the long-term growth of the business. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Reliability, Quality, and Health & Safety teams, you will help deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable engineering solutions that reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and enhance operational capability.
Your contribution will help drive continuous improvement, strengthen engineering standards, and create a collaborative project environment where safety, accountability, and operational excellence are embedded into every stage of project delivery.
