Successful manufacturing businesses don’t just react to equipment failures - they build reliability into every asset, every process, and every decision. By creating proactive maintenance strategies, strengthening operational discipline, and driving continuous improvement, they reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and create safer, more reliable manufacturing environments.
As a Reliability Engineering Leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in improving equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability across the business. Combining your technical expertise, leadership capability, and passion for continuous improvement, you’ll lead reliability strategies, maintenance optimisation, and performance improvement initiatives that directly influence operational efficiency, asset performance, and business continuity.
In this role you will:
• Provide visible reliability engineering leadership, promoting a culture where safety, reliability, accountability, and proactive maintenance are embedded into daily operations
• Develop and implement reliability engineering strategies, standards, and best practices to improve asset performance, lifecycle management, and operational efficiency
• Monitor equipment reliability trends and maintenance performance data to identify chronic failures, performance gaps, and opportunities for long-term improvement
• Lead preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, implementing condition monitoring, vibration analysis, and reliability-centred maintenance methodologies to minimise downtime
• Lead root cause failure investigations using structured problem-solving tools such as RCA and FMEA, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented
• Analyse CMMS and asset management data, using reliability KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR to drive performance improvements and strengthen maintenance effectiveness
• Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Compliance, Operations, and Projects teams to optimise maintenance practices, spare parts strategies, and critical asset management
• Lead, mentor, and develop reliability engineers and technical teams, promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and a culture of proactive reliability across the organisation
You’re someone who understands that reliability engineering is about more than preventing breakdowns - it’s about improving operational performance, reducing risk, increasing efficiency, and creating sustainable engineering excellence across the business.
• You will have demonstrable experience within reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or operational engineering environments, ideally across complex or multi-site operations
• You possess strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and asset lifecycle management
• You bring proven experience leading reliability improvement initiatives, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement projects within manufacturing or engineering environments
• You demonstrate strong understanding of maintenance systems, CMMS data analysis, reliability KPIs, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as RCA and FMEA
• You possess excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage, coach, and support operational and engineering teams at all levels
• You are confident developing maintenance strategies, reliability standards, and asset management processes that improve operational performance and reduce downtime
• You bring strong analytical and problem-solving capability, identifying risks, implementing sustainable improvements, and driving operational efficiency through data-led decision making
• You are highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and strong engineering governance standards
• You hold or are working towards Engineering Professional Registration, with relevant Engineering, Health & Safety, and Internal Auditor qualifications considered highly advantageous
The impact you will have:
You will play a key role in improving equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and maintenance performance across the business, ensuring engineering assets operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Compliance, and Quality teams, you will help reduce downtime, strengthen asset performance, and improve long-term operational reliability.
Your contribution will help drive continuous improvement, optimise maintenance strategies, and build a proactive engineering culture where reliability, safety, and operational excellence are embedded into every process, decision, and activity across the organisation.
What’s in it for you:
You’ll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package designed to support your wellbeing, financial security, and career development.
